Question 1

What are SevernCross scheduled-closure alerts?

Accepted Answer

SevernCross shows future scheduled-closure announcements for the two Severn crossings when an official source and an explicit future date are available. The source link is shown alongside each notice so you can check the announcement for yourself.

Question 2

Which crossings are covered?

Accepted Answer

SevernCross covers the M48 Severn Bridge and the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

Question 3

Is a scheduled notice the same as the current bridge status?

Accepted Answer

No. A scheduled notice is a future, planned closure announcement. The live crossing-status section on the home page is separate and reports the latest available current status. A missing future announcement does not mean a crossing is open or that there is no incident, and unavailable live data is reported as unavailable rather than inferred as open.

Question 4

How do I sign up?

Accepted Answer

Create a free SevernCross account at /signup. Public scheduled-closure news remains available without an account; a free account does not by itself mean that paid notification delivery is included.

Question 5

Which notification options exist?

Accepted Answer

Paid preference access supports email as the primary channel. SMS and WhatsApp are secondary channels only when you have configured a destination and the relevant delivery setup is available. You can keep using the existing crossing, weekday, and commute-window choices, but not every channel is active in every deployment.

Question 6

Is there a free digest?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The separate daily digest is an email-only summary of upcoming official closures for your selected crossings. It is off by default and independent of paid or immediate live alerts. Account holders can manage it from the alerts dashboard; the public FAQ cannot edit preferences.

Question 7

What is available for fleets?

Accepted Answer

The Fleet / Business plan is for teams that need scheduled-closure planning across selected crossings. It supports up to five additional SMS destinations only where the verified entitlement supports them. See the plan details for the current offer.

Question 8

Does SevernCross provide official road information?

Accepted Answer

SevernCross is an alert and planning product, not the official road authority. It links to and filters for attributable National Highways or other official source material, and it does not fabricate an update when source data cannot be verified.
